CNFA volunteers Bryce Malsbary and Scott Perry took their expertise to Nepal as part of the USAID Farmer-to-Farmer Program. Malsbary, a retired healthcare human resources and financial services expert, worked with Deudhunga Multipurpose Cooperative Limited (DMCL). DMCL oversees essential oil and seed production with the Community Forest User Group (CFUG), which provides the cooperative with the necessary raw materials for production. Malsbary was excited about the progress he made training the staff on strategic management, saying, “They began to implement some of the things I had talked about before I even left: having more frequent meetings, using strategies that we had talked about, implementing my suggestions on a smaller scale at first to see how it would work. I was very excited!” Scott Perry, an entrepreneur and accounting expert, visited SEHBO Pvt. Ltd., a Nepalese nonprofit that helps local artisans access international buyers. He worked with the company to help build accounting and organizational capacity. Speaking on the SEHBO’s tremendous potential in their chosen niche, Perry said, “These services provide value to clients and are in high demand.”
