Responsible Environmental Stewardship

Environmental impact assessment and responsible stewardship are central elements of all CNFA activities. In particular, we place a high priority on introducing and encouraging principles of sustainable agriculture and incorporating environmental education and protection measures at all stages of project design and implementation.

Through our grant and technical assistance programs, we encourage our local partners and beneficiaries to adopt and replicate environmentally responsible business practices. We have assisted local stakeholders to employ market-driven environmental improvements to

  • enhance product quality and value
  • obtain certifications in international sanitary and management standards, including HACCP and ISO
  • ensure the environmental sustainability of increased production and processing
  • incorporate environmental impact assessment and mitigation into project design and facility renovation
  • conduct programs to monitor water and soil quality, adopt and disseminate best practices for the safe handling, storage, and application of agrochemicals
  • maintain a safe and healthy work environment
  • introduce cost-effective, environmentally sustainable irrigation systems
