As CNFA’s Country Director in Tanzania, Kibiby was an outstanding leader and expert in agriculture development. After working with the Tanzania Agricultural Market Development Trust (TAGMARK), CNFA’s local affiliate, she joined CNFA in 2008 as Director of CNFA’s Farmer to Farmer (FTF) Volunteer Program. In 2009, she was promoted to Tanzania Country Director, managing both FTF and the Tanzania Agrodealer Strengthening Program.
As Country Director Kibiby was responsible for the management of all CNFA’s agriculture develop efforts in Tanzania. The centerpiece of these efforts is the development of an extensive network of village based agrodealers, which is substantially expanding farmer’s access to technology and high-quality seeds and other crop inputs, leading to improved agricultural output and enhanced food security.
She began her career as a secondary school biology teacher in the Kilosa district of Tanzania. Later, she obtained her BSc and MSc in Agricultural Education and Extension from Sokoine University. She went on to receive her PhD in Agricultural Extension and Gender from the University of Florida in 2007 through the prestigious Norman Borlaug Leadership Enhancement for Agriculture Program (LEAP) Fellowship Program.
Kibiby was an outstanding professional and leader, and her passing is a profound loss for her family, friends, and colleagues, as well as for her country. She is survived by her family, including her two young children. Our thoughts and prayers are with them in this difficult time.
