Théodore Lompo

Associate Director, Global Security

As associate director, Global Security, Théodore Lompo supports CNFA’s Safety and Security Team in developing, implementing, and monitoring an effective strategy to mitigate risk, maintain continuity of operations, and provide for the safety and security of all employees. He is based in West Africa and supports CNFA’s operations across the globe.

Prior to joining CNFA, Lompo spent 10 years working in the mining sector for companies, including the Canadian-based IAMGOLD Corporation. At IAMGOLD, he served as the regional security superintendent, where he oversaw the security of the company’s assets in West Africa, mainly in Mali, Senegal, Guinea, and Burkina Faso.

Additionally, Lompo worked on a special unit within Burkina Faso’s National Gendarmerie for 11 years, where he specialized in counterterrorism, counter-organized crime, VIP protection, and crowd control. He also held positions as the deputy head of security at the Ministry of Homeland Security and platoon commander of VIP Protection in the Gendarmerie.

Lompo holds a Diploma and three certificates in Criminal Investigations from the Gendarmerie School in Burkina Faso. He is currently working on obtaining his master’s degree in Conflict, Peace, and Security with a focus on the security of nongovernmental organizations through a collaboration between the University Oberta de Catalunya and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research. He is also a board-certified security professional, having earned the recognition of Certified Security Management Professional (CSMP). A native of Burkina Faso, Lompo is fluent in French and English.
