Resilience

Strengthening household, community, and systemic resilience to crises.

CNFA helps families, communities, and businesses overcome shocks and stresses, such as those associated with natural disasters and geo-political issues, that threaten to undermine development gains around the world.

Driven by private sector engagement and host-country government support, we design programs to build resilience and stimulate sustainable economic development. Our programs support interconnected factors such as education, access to finance and insurance, local leadership, and self-reliance. We work with strong networks of international and local partners who bring expertise in inclusive market and food systems, nutrition, finance, and governance. Through this network we work to improve community-level resilience, open access to functional markets, and promote stability.

Our interventions focus on reducing poverty and increasing economic stability by supporting diversified livelihoods and strengthening household and market networks. We also support communities to adopt good agricultural practices, produce safe and nutritious foods, manage and protect assets, and strengthen social and systemic support systems. When communities and households are supported, they can mobilize their own resources to tackle problems and build and safeguard their assets.
