Social Inclusion
Building inclusive communities by promoting opportunities for women, youth, and other marginalized communities.
CNFA strives to include women, youth, and other marginalized groups at all levels of our work. Our interventions promote equitable access to resources such as land, water, seeds, productive assets, and other inputs. This helps rural communities improve the adaptability and resilience necessary to achieve sustainable development and increase food security.
Supporting women-owned and -operated enterprises helps boost access to professional opportunities while increasing women’s share of household income and decision-making. This enhances their ability to absorb climate-related shocks and stressors, but also builds their capacity in the workforce, which can lead to increased focus on a better quality of life for families. In certain instances, our programs focus on traditionally female-supported value chains, such as the production of poultry, small ruminants, and cowpeas. By strengthening literacy skills and helping women start and scale up their businesses, our programs help build improved livelihoods. Similarly, by training youth in farming, business development, and the use of innovative agricultural technologies, our programs offer practical experiences that drive meaningful and successful youth engagement.
