Julie Borlaug

Director

Julie Borlaug brings over two decades of leadership in agricultural innovation, agribusiness strategy, and stakeholder engagement to CNFA’s Board; she is also the granddaughter of Nobel laureate Dr. Norman Borlaug. Currently, she is the President of Borlaug Consulting and the Borlaug Foundation, where she continues her family’s legacy by advising clients on strategic partnerships, external communications, and organizational growth across the agricultural sector.

Borlaug has held leadership roles spanning both corporate agribusiness and major U.S. research institutions. At Texas A&M University, she served as Director of Strategic Initiatives at Texas A&M AgriLife Research, developing programs that engaged agribusiness firms, multinational corporations, universities, and government entities. She also served as Associate Director for External Relations at the Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture, where she led partnerships with public, private, and international organizations to advance U.S. agricultural development programs abroad.

In the private sector, Julie served as Vice President of External Relations at Inari and Vice President of Corporate Communications and External Relations at Invaio Sciences, both Flagship Pioneering portfolio companies. In these roles, she built relationships with government officials and industry stakeholders, developed thought leadership initiatives, and represented her organizations at major industry events worldwide.

Julie serves on the Council of Advisors for the World Food Prize Foundation, the Board of Trustees for the Council for Agricultural Science and Technology (CAST), and the boards of the Global Farmer Network, among others.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and Political Science from Texas A&M University and holds an MBA from the University of Dallas.
